Seeing the Edge with Fresh Eyes
I think Marshall and Monroe are wide enough to add green space like this as well as angled and straight parking. This is in Ocean Springs. There are several lots that are just like lawns with trees (parks without benches). There are multiple small parks with playgound equipment and or benches and gazebos. It's a very small quaint town but there are lots of people up and down the streets all day and even more at night with live music at several locations. Lots of small retail and restaurants are anchored by banks, lawyers, Walter Anderson Museum, and Chamber of Commerce.
I realize the Edge district is a much more industrial, urban space but what if it was greened up tremendously? What if fences were taken down, green space and amenities added? What if it had a small town walkable feel in the middle of a big city. I can't wait to ask some of the few Edge residents and people that work and own businesses in the Edge. We add shade trees so the car repair businesses could be shade tree mechanics? Walk around the Edge, have coffee, shop, peruse the antique store (museum with stuff for sale) and sit in the park and read a book while your oil gets changed. I think the scale has to be brought down to more human on a lot of levels.
