Atlantic water meets the Mississippi here
For quite sometime I have been interested in the odd little walkway just down from the intersection of madison and monroe. It is also the location of the Memphis and Charleston Railroad, completed in 1857, was the first railroadin the United States to link the Atlantic Ocean with the Mississippi River. The was an important FIRST for the country yet its history is lost in the present.
I really like the functionality of the site and the gentle curve of the site from the road. I am playing with the idea of invoking water visually, concetpually and possibly through plants gently moving in the wind to mimic waves...I am going to visit Gardenen Oy Vey tomorrow to make some connections and get inspired.
New site idea:
We have all been interested in the blank wall on Monroe just up from Garden Path Studio but today was the first time that I looked behind the wooden fence and thought it was kinda magical. It might be a good place for several of our ideas...including my chair and two-sided mural idea.
Last idea for the evening:
I noticed that there are still some old derelict signs around the area that reference the automobile row era. It might be cool to use them in some fashion to identify streets or locations in the EDGE. There are multiple signs but I just took one photo today
